miss_parker0106 I love all of the tracks, but since I can only select one, I chose the first track; that's what drew me in to listen to all the rest.

This is a delightful, upbeat set of electronica, skillfully composed and beautifully mixed. It transports me back to the 80s and 90s when electronica began to take hold as a music genre. I've always loved electronica, and this collection just strengthens that love. Favorite track: Absorber.

about

After taking my twins to see Orbital live in 2017, then again at Christmas 2018 where they finally got to meet and hang out with the Hartnoll brothers, the boys decided they wanted to do their first electronic album.

The boys have always shown a keen interest in my synths and would always get first go on any new one I brought home.

They had been playing around with a few ideas on Maschine every now and then so I decided to revisit those demos and see if we could turn them into something cool.

Every step of the way the boys were involved in selecting the right kick, the right lead, the right pad or the right effect.
We would get a beat going and discuss where the tracks should go.
They came up with the song titles as well.

As for my involvement I was the producer and co-writer.
I gave the boys direction and a framework to come up with ideas.
Working this way allowed me to escape my own gloomy, electronic rock
and self imposed writing restrictions, and have fun with my studio, doing things I would never normally do under the 'scorbie' name.

There's a lot of the new Yamaha MODX6 FM synth in this. Native Instruments Maschine MK3 was also used along with the Novation Ultranova, ARP Odyssey (original white face) and my modular system.
All recorded and mixed in ProTools.

The title 'Googolopolis 3' is a continuation of my very first official CD released in 1994, Googolopolis. It was my attempt at plagiarising Orbital to death!
The word/number Googol was around long before the popular and evil AI intelligence gathering search engine took over the world. Sigh... I should have patented it.
Still, my word!

'Orbital: The Next Generation'! is what Phil Hartnoll called them.
Well, we're gonna give it a go! :)
